It’s All Maya!

If Life is an illusion, then why do I keep banging my head against the wall?

Si la Vie est une illusion, pourquoi je n'arrête pas de me taper la tête sur les murs?

Will Mexico Have To Build A Wall Around Their Border To Keep Out Americans?

Americans Returning Home After Shopping in Mexico!

This is a question that Americans may be hearing more and more often from their neighbors to the South!  Why?  For the simple reason that millions of Americans live right on the border with Mexico and as gas prices keep going up and food prices rise for basic necessities; the price of food and gas to the South is starting to look pretty tempting to say the least!

Protest March Mexico CityI’m not talking tacos and margaritas here, I’m talking about basic food staples:  fruits, vegetables, bread, etc.  Don’t get me wrong, prices in Mexico have risen and protestors have taken to the streets, as they have in countries all across the globe, as more and more people throughout the world find it impossible to feed their families.  Still, to Americans those prices look pretty good.

Need I say more?Everyone knows that there are enough resources in the world so that no one needs to go hungry, so why is this global crisis getting worse?  It all goes back to - whoever controls the oil, controls the world.  As the fat Arab countries (which controls 2/3 of the world’s oil) get richer and fatter, famine is slowly spreading to the rest of the world.

Mexico-US BorderUntil recently Americans were living in an illusion that all was well.  As long as we could afford our milk and eggs, and fill up our gas tanks, we just switched the channel to something more pleasant than watch what was taking place in the world.  It was a “Tsk, tsk, so sad that the rest of the world is in chaos, but what can we do?” attitude.  Well that crisis is now on the doorstep and Americans are starting to feel the pinch.  The luxury of filling up the car tank and filling up the grocery cart may be just that in the near future for many - a luxury.

Mmm! Margarita! When Americans along the Mexican border start heading South everyday for food and gas like they’re going to Costco, the Mexican government may just have to take measures and build a wall to keep out all those pesky Americans!

Maya Muses:  After writing this article, I did what any normal person would do.  I made myself a margarita and now I’m feeling better.  I raise my glass in a toast, afterall there’s something to be said for illusions!
