I’m more than happy that all 155 passengers and crew on US Airways Flight 1549 survived the emergency landing in the Hudson River minutes after takeoff from New York’s LaGuardia Airport yesterday afternoon. Everyone is saying it was a miracle that no one died and that ferry boats happened to be in the right place at the right time to rescue passengers; not to mention all the accolades given to the pilot Chesley B. “Sully” Sullenberger which are well merited I must say.
But! What about the geese? Apparently a flock of geese struck both engines immediately after takeoff where passengers heard a loud bang and smelled smoke and within minutes the plane was positioning for an emergency landing. I keep wondering why were those geese in the air? This is the middle of January; what were they doing so far north so late in the season? Most geese make their way to warmer climates in Autumn, not in the midst of Winter! By this time they’re bathing in warm waters down south!
Maya Muses: Could Global Warming be the true culprit for US Airways Flight 1549 going down? Were the warm temperatures this Fall confusing the poor geese so that when the cold frigid air finally hit, they definitely found themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time?!

I was thinking about the people on the streets of NY, seeing that plane flying so low….they must have thought about 9/11… don`t you think?

As a matter of fact, many people who saw it said they thought it was another terrorist attack.
(Thanks for the info Meredith, I’ll put your new blog onto my blogroll!)
