This is what we left behind….
This is what greeted us!
We left El Paso with warm weather and sunny skies and landed in Pittsburgh where a blizzard was brewing! As a matter of fact, all flights into Pittsburgh were cancelled; only ours and two others, were the only flights that landed on an icy runway. When we touched down and finally came to a stop, everyone burst out in a round of applause. Nothing unusual if it’s a plane load of French passengers, but not something American passengers do everyday.
Snow at the Point of Pittsburgh
Snow, snow everywhere!
The airport looked like a ghost town. It was so weird to see no one there as we made our way to baggage claim. My brother Bob, who was suppose to pick us up, was among the no shows! When we called asking him if he was on his way to meet us, his reply was he was home watching tv! There was just too much snow for him to venture out, so we had to take a cab. Another call to Bob let him know that there weren’t any cabs in sight, but we could get a shuttle into town and could he pick us up there?
No one at the airport and no one here!
Where is everybody?
It took us forever to make it into town and it took Bob forever to arrive as well. As we made our way home we were skidding and sliding all over the place! As we approached my mom’s house the car couldn’t make it up the hill, so we went around the long way and came down the hill instead. Then literally two feet from getting the car into the garage, the tires just started to spin deeper and deeper into the snow.
Everything is more hush-hush in the snow.
An hour later we were still trying to push the car into the garage! We were so close to home, yet so far away!….And, believe me, we were all wondering why in the heck did we come back for?!!
Our two cars are in there somewhere!
Maya Muses: The following morning we opened the curtains and couldn’t see our cars. They were completely buried under the snow! It took four hours to shovel out just one car!
I’ve got the door open!
Almost done!
This one seems harder!

I love the hush of snow. Makes everyone just chill and settle in at home. Not a bad thing, I think.
So, French passengers regularly applaud the pilots?

I wouldn’t want to do it everyday, but then again it’s a good workout.
