It’s All Maya!

If Life is an illusion, then why do I keep banging my head against the wall?

Si la Vie est une illusion, pourquoi je n'arrête pas de me taper la tête sur les murs?

The Escargot Caper!

August 11th, 2008 · 11 Comments

L’EscargotThe first time Katia ate snails was on her 3rd birthday when Patrick and I took her to a French restaurant.  She looked at the plate and asked us, “What are they?”

I made a fist and stuck up my first two fingers bent like the tentacles of a snail and slowly moved my hand.  “They’re snails, you know those little animals that have a shell and move really slow.  Try it and see if you like it.” I told her.

Pretty Woman PosterShe poked around and then touched it with the tip of her finger; she watched as Patrick and I were savouring ours.  She took a tiny little piece and put it in her mouth.  Hmm, not bad! was her expression.  She took another little piece and ate that.  Then she popped the whole thing in her mouth!  She was off and running!

So, eight and a half years later, what else would we order for her on her first day in Paris?  Escargots, of course!  This time she had the same expression on her face when they set down the cutlery apparatus used to take the snail out of its shell, (la pince à escargots). ”What’s this?” she asked.

Katia’s escargot decides to go airborne! If you’ve ever seen Pretty Woman (and who hasn’t!) you’ll remember the scene where Julia Roberts and Richard Gere are eating escargots in a fancy restaurant and Julia’s snail goes flying through the air.  Well, after watching Patrick and I eat our escargots for a few minutes, Katia decided to have a go at it and did a Julia Roberts!  It was so funny!  And the look on her face was priceless!

Maya Muses:  The diners at the next table thought it was amusing, as well, as Katia’s escargot went airborne!

Would have liked to see that!

I think escargot tastes good!Especially with garlic!

Funny things we eat though! And what we think is eatable or not…But it is good to taste everything,at least once!Well, come to think of it,not everything, but almost!

It was fun that game we just to play when I was a kid!Put on a blindfold and taste different “things”……………

    Tina called!
And I need to get dressed!
Our keys doesn’t fit the Front door keyhole any more?
Nobody else have a problem with their keys just us!Wonder why?

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Michelle would have said that’s a sign! Both a key and a door are very symbolic and normally represent new opportunities. If the key no longer fits in your door, the universe may be telling you that a change is needed, or that the place where you live is no longer where you and Ulf should be.

Then again, it could mean that the grooves are worn and you just need a new key! LOL! (That’s probably what I would have told Michelle; now I’m not so sure!)

That was what I said to Ulf too,my exact words!
So we will think about it!
And that the grooves are worn out and we just need a new key…is not a sign too?

  • 4 Lynn // Aug 14, 2008 at 10:50 pm

Yes, it means that you need a new key! (LOL!!!)

  • 5 Mia // Aug 15, 2008 at 5:25 pm

    Yeah!
You mean don’t see signs in everything, sometimes it is that simple!

    Hmmm….Okay….will think about that too….
But I haven’t told you half of it!

  • 6 Lynn // Aug 15, 2008 at 10:46 pm

I’m sure the half you haven’t told me about is quite interesting…..can’t wait!

  • 7 Mia // Aug 16, 2008 at 3:44 pm

I’m not sure what is going on here..it is not only the keys…But you have to wait a little bit longer……

Life is very interesting….right now..and I think it has only just started…

How about you? Any new “signs”?

    reading this made me smile….

I´ve had escargot, in fact my dad likes to eat them with spaghetti…

David was a little surprised when I told him how people react to “Cuy”.

  • 9 Lynn // Sep 22, 2008 at 4:13 pm

I think your dad has something there! I’m going to tell Patrick (he’s the chef) to make escargot with spaghetti!!

As for cuy, I have the same reaction as I do eating rabbit, not thanks!

  • 10 Tina // Sep 23, 2008 at 9:34 am

funny, David has a different reaction towards rabbits.. he doesn´t like them as pets….

  • 11 Lynn // Sep 23, 2008 at 5:29 pm

Me either, but I’ve tried rabbit, I just don’t care for the taste; the same for venison. I hate when people say, “I don’t like that!” and they’ve never tried it. I’ll try almost anything once. “Almost” is the operative word! Lol!
