It’s All Maya!

Never in all my years have I ever seen a profession (as a whole) go against everything that profession stands for!  As a part of history, we took it for granted to trust and get our “news” from well respected news reporters, journalists, nightly news anchors, and correspondents in the field.  These men and women fought to find the truth, risked their lives at times to tell us what was honestly happening somewhere in the world and we didn’t take that lightly!  We understood that because of the dangers that these reporters faced at times, these people were doing what others in their profession had done before them; looking for and bring us the truth!

That is….up until this year!  Never have I witnessed such bias reporting by these people in this year’s elections!  Never have I seen hour after hour spent reporting the positive side of one candidate 99.5% of the time and the negative side of the other candidate for the same amount of time.  Never have I seen the news media try and make a mockery out of one candidate to advance the candidate of their choice!

What happened to giving the people the facts?  What happened to giving the people the truth; to fair and honest reporting; to being an impartial medium so that the viewers could make up their own minds?  What happened to this well respected profession?!

Never again will I get my news from CNN, MSNBC, the New York Times….and the lists goes on and on!  Maybe some people don’t mind being spoon fed propaganda all day long, maybe some people are willing to let others think for them, but I personally prefer to hear both sides.  I prefer to form my own opinions and make my own decisions.  Never again will I hold the field of journalism as a whole in such high regard as I once had when I dreamed of being a journalist myself as a child!

So, did this flagrant disregard for reporting the truth work?  I’m happy to say that not completely!  This election is so tight, even after a year of prejudicial reporting, it just goes to show that there are many others like myself who prefer to think for themselves!  Imagine what the election would have been like if these so-called journalists had done their job and reported both sides fairly!

Maya Muses:  So, will this candidate, who afterall has spent half of his political career running for President, end up spending the other half of his political career running the country?!!  Could be!….Thanks, of course, to the news media who put him on a pedestal that he himself now believes he’s the Chosen One!  Well, when he begins to falter, those idiots will have no one to blame but themselves! 

Still!  Stop calling yourselves journalists, because journalists you are not!!!  There’s another word for you!  Fans!  That’s all you are - loyal fans!
