I wrote in my last episode of American Idol that I was hoping to be pleasantly surprised. I was! David Archuleta finally put emotion into his singing on the big night that it counted the most! His first and last performances of the night were great. The second song didn’t blow me away, but it was all right. (Don’t tell that to his fans the Archies and the Arch Angels; for them he can do no wrong!)
David Cook, however, was off the mark and as I’ve said all along, when you take out those two big notes he belts out at the end of his songs, you’re left with a mediocre performance and that’s what we got. (David C.’s fans, the Cookies would disagree, of course!) I think Simon made a good point when he said that David C. should have sung Billie Jean. If he had, there might have been more of an equal competition.
As it stands, David Archuleta won hands down! Let’s just see if the American public agreed.
Maya Muses: The Arch Angel sang beautifully last night and the Cookie crumbled. That about sums up the final performances of American Idol.

Although David Archuleta gave a much better performance and has a better voice than David Cook, America voted and picked the Cookie! No surprise, everyone knows that Americans love their cookies!
