It’s All Maya!

There’s a phenomenon in the US that no other football team in the NFL can boast about except for the Pittsburgh Steelers!  The US can truly be called Steeler Nation!  I have been to every state in the continental US except for two and in every single state you will find not only die hard Steelers fans, but also Steelers clubs and bars.

What is it about the Steelers that even in the heart of Dallas Cowboy country, you’ll find a Steelers bar with people rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers?  The same can be said in San Francisco, Denver, Chicago, New York and everywhere else in between!  Three years ago when the Steelers won Superbowl XL there was a huge parade for the winning team in downtown Pittsburgh (no surprise), but did you know there was also an official parade with police escorts for the Steelers in Charleston, South Carolina?!  How many cities do you know give a parade for another city’s football team?!  Only in Steeler Nation!

Terry Bradshaw was asked on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno who he thought would win between the San Diego Chargers and the Pittsburgh Steelers in last Sunday’s game.  Terry, who use to be the quarterback for the Steelers back in the 1970’s and 80’s and won four Superbowls with the team, hesitated and then said he liked the Chargers.  He was booed by the audience for not picking the Steelers!  Amazing that in California there were more Steelers fans in the audience than there were Charger fans!  Of course Terry changed his tune and then said he was going for the Steelers to win.

I don’t have to tell anyone who’s a part of Steeler Nation that Pittsburgh did win against the Chargers last Sunday and will now face off with the Baltimore Ravens this evening in the AFC Championship and a chance of going to the Super Bowl.  Patrick and I will once again be watching and waving our Terrible Towels as we root for another victory!  Go Steelers!!!
