It’s All Maya!

If Life is an illusion, then why do I keep banging my head against the wall?

Si la Vie est une illusion, pourquoi je n'arrête pas de me taper la tête sur les murs?

Something’s Wrong With This Picture And It Isn’t Miley Cyrus!

April 30th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Miley CyrusSomething is definitely wrong when all the news is about a young teenage girl who had photographs taken showing less skin than most girls her age show on the beach!  Annie Leibovitz’s photos of Miley Cyrus for Vanity Fair are beautiful.  I see no reason for Miley to even apologize!  Yes, young girls look up to her, or her character, Hannah Montana, so what?  Most of her fans would have said, “nice pics!”  I’m sure no one would have thought, “OMG she’s naked!” if it weren’t for all the news hype turning this “incident” into headline news!

When we think of all the important issues going on in this world, well the idea that a 15 year-old has shown part of her bare back and arm, (Oh my, I’m going to faint!) you would think that we’re still living in the Victorian Age, or better yet, the Dark Ages!

Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus

Controversy surrounding the photo of Miley with her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus is ludicrous!  The photograph is beautiful and innocent, but the media’s alluding to something more sinister is also absurd.  It’s enough to make you laugh if it weren’t so sad.  I wonder what the American public would have thought if they had seen the video of Charlotte Gainsbourg with her father Serge Gainsbourg when it came out in 1984 and Charlotte was a young 12 year-old.

Charlotte & Serge GainsbourgSerge Gainsbourg loved to shock and I remember when the video clip called Lemon Incest first aired on TV in France.  It shocked many because of its insinuation to sex and incest, but it’s a far cry from the photograph of Miley Cyrus and her dad!  I would hope that most Americans would agree that all this has been blown way out of proportion, which just goes to show that the media and paparazzi surrounding celebrities have gone completely mad!

Maya Muses: Who would have thought that Puritanical America is alive and well in 2008!  I was under the  illusion that the Baby Boomer generation of free love and running naked at Woodstock had changed all that!  I guess not!  Where’s a wall so I can bang my head!
