Something is definitely wrong when all the news is about a young teenage girl who had photographs taken showing less skin than most girls her age show on the beach! Annie Leibovitz’s photos of Miley Cyrus for Vanity Fair are beautiful. I see no reason for Miley to even apologize! Yes, young girls look up to her, or her character, Hannah Montana, so what? Most of her fans would have said, “nice pics!” I’m sure no one would have thought, “OMG she’s naked!” if it weren’t for all the news hype turning this “incident” into headline news!
When we think of all the important issues going on in this world, well the idea that a 15 year-old has shown part of her bare back and arm, (Oh my, I’m going to faint!) you would think that we’re still living in the Victorian Age, or better yet, the Dark Ages!
Controversy surrounding the photo of Miley with her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus is ludicrous! The photograph is beautiful and innocent, but the media’s alluding to something more sinister is also absurd. It’s enough to make you laugh if it weren’t so sad. I wonder what the American public would have thought if they had seen the video of Charlotte Gainsbourg with her father Serge Gainsbourg when it came out in 1984 and Charlotte was a young 12 year-old.
Serge Gainsbourg loved to shock and I remember when the video clip called Lemon Incest first aired on TV in France. It shocked many because of its insinuation to sex and incest, but it’s a far cry from the photograph of Miley Cyrus and her dad! I would hope that most Americans would agree that all this has been blown way out of proportion, which just goes to show that the media and paparazzi surrounding celebrities have gone completely mad!
Maya Muses: Who would have thought that Puritanical America is alive and well in 2008! I was under the illusion that the Baby Boomer generation of free love and running naked at Woodstock had changed all that! I guess not! Where’s a wall so I can bang my head!

Necessary no, but there’s nothing wrong with the photos and that’s my whole point! They didn’t see anything wrong with the photos! It’s the public who’s reading more into it, unlike Serge Gainsbourg, who loved to shove controversy into people’s faces!
So, as far as Miley and her dad are concerned…. that shows you where people’s minds are!!!

i loove miley cyrus and i feel bad that people make her seem so bad! it takes courage for her to do the things she does! stand up in front of everyoont( millions) in the u.s. an say that she thanks God more than anyone, thats bravery! then people got mad at her for that! that is rude miley is a good person, ai bet its hard growing up, a teen, as a star! i feel bad for her because the things people say about ger, she is a good person. many teens do the same things as her and even worse, but when she does it its a big deal! well back off, she is being a regular teenage girl!!!!!!!!!!! thank you for helping her out! miley has done some bad things like takind those(almost0 nude shots, but she didnt know what she was doind and publically apologized. she is a young teen and will make plenty of mistakes! so shame to the people that say they hate her because she is a good girl with a strong heart!

Julia, you’re so right, it’s hard to be a teen and harder still when you’re famous and every move you make is put under a microscope and evaluated by millions of fans and those who aren’t fans, but look for anything to criticize her for anyway!

i think that all this was blown way to far out of the water. all they are, are pictures and if you think she is a bad role model then you think doing something that you want to do and believe in is wrong. miley said that she did this because it was supposed to be artistic and it is. there is nothing more beautiful than a female weather there a young girl or older there the work of God and he is the greatest artist there ever was. so by you slamming what miley did i see it as you slamming art. and thats not right know one should be slammed for something that they stand for if its not hurting anyone.

WOW it think this is so stupid, how these ppl are reacting to these pics. I thought the pics were classy and artistic. When I saw the one with her dad I immediately thought wow shes carrying on the family name and career , like father like daughter and she has georgous skin, refreshing not to see the common everyday golden hue. As far as this role model thing thats nothing but bull honkey. I mean think about it you have all these young teenage girls 12-15 with children or pregant and I think we all know where children come from. These parents are pointing fingers when if fact there kids are most likely already doing far worse things than showing an arm and back,and this has been going on way before miss cyrus and her beautiful photos. Poor Miley is just a scapegoat becaause it looks like to me the only ppl anyone should be pointing fingers at for a horrible role models are the parents themselves. Maybe if they spent more time with there kids and kept an actual eye out for them and there actions there wouuldn’t be so many BABIES having BABIES. Maybe you ppl need to stop pointing fingers at others and point them at yourself. However, its always easier to blame someone else for being irresponsible.

Amen Jamie, I agree!!! People are so narrow-minded to see anything wrong with the photograph of her and her dad. I think it’s a beautiful photo! As for Miley showing her back and a bare arm, my God, what’s wrong with people!?! Go to the beach and you’ll see three times more skin!!!

I dont see anything wrong with these pics….i mean, i sort of feel bad for her because ppl make fun of her when they are really just jealous if they cant have anything nice to say, they shouldnt say it and miley is growing up ppl cant expect her to be a teenage girl for the rest of her life and the pics only show her back…i’ve seen teenage girls wear SHIRTS that show THEIR backs…..these ppl need to stop picking on her!!
