A few days later, Katia, Patrick and I had just left the apartment a few minutes earlier, Patrick was a few feet ahead of us looking in a shop window, when two big dogs bursted out of an apartment building unleashed. The German Shepherd came straight toward us barking at Katia. The dog was snarling which, of course, scared her. I didn’t even have time to get scared, it happened so fast. Now I must say, Katia doesn’t normally get scared of dogs. Just the opposite, she loves animals, and has six dogs of her own; three with her mom and three with her dad! Princess, her German Shepherd, is 14 years old and has always been in her life from the time she was born.
This other German Shepherd barging out of the apartment building, however, was agressive and sensed her fear.
Within seconds he was right up to her baring his teeth. I tried to put her behind me as I saw him open his mouth to bite her leg. At that moment the owner came out the door and called the dog over. The German Shepherd went to his master and became docile. I, on the other hand, became furious!
“Your dog almost bit my daughter!” I screamed. “You’re suppose to have your dogs on a leash!”
The man looked at me like I was a raving lunatic and calmly said, “My dogs do not bother anyone unless someone bothers them. Your daughter must have done something for him to become agressive.”
“My daughter didn’t touch your dog!” I ranted, my Latin blood still boiling over. “As soon as you let him out the door, he came straight toward us ready to attack.”
“My dogs do not attack unless provoked, your daughter must have provoked my dog.” he concluded with his Gallic calm.
Patrick, who was silent up to this point, said just as calmly, (as though these two Frenchmen were talking about the weather!) “That’s a lie. Your dog attacked them.”
The man now started to get agitated. “Are you calling me a liar?” he asked Patrick.
“If you insist that your dogs don’t attack unless provoked, then yes you are a liar.” Patrick told the man.
During this entire exchange my eyes had not left the two dogs that were right next to their owner. The man started to come toward Patrick, “You calling me a liar!” he said again, his hands were now bunched into fists.
Patrick who was about 12 feet away from him was waiting for him to approach. I was worried for the man. I said to him in a steady voice, “Sir, be careful he knows Karate.” I didn’t even have time to add, he’s a black belt Karate expert. The man stopped dead in his tracks, did an about face and took off with his two dogs without another word!!!
It was like something you see in a cartoon! The three of us just stood there watching him walk away. We looked at each other like, “Did all this actually happen?” and then we all started laughing, it was so comical!
Maya Muses: At this point in time, I had forgotten about the rats and Michelle and her signs. I was just extremely grateful that Katia hadn’t gotten bitten by that dog!

By the way…
I missed your blog!
But it is summer and vacation…
I will look in when I’m not in the woods picking berries…or staying in bed because the weather are bad…or hurting my poor skinny butt on the bike…
or stuffing myself with strawberries and ice-cream…or talking with Tina on phone…or rocking to “the Boss”…Yeah…Bruce was here and he was great!
You should have seen all middle age people turning 18 again! The man is 58,but for 3 hours he rocked!two nights in a row!
Ooops,off the topic again….sorry!

Thanks Mia, sounds great going in the woods picking berries, or staying in bed all day….! Still, what could be more fun than feeling 18 again!? It’s always great to go to a concert and see someone that you saw when you were a teenager! The music and the atmosphere really does make you feel like you’ve been transported back in time!
That is until the next day when all the aches and pain come to remind you that dancing and jamming all night like a kid does have its consequences after a certain age! But it’s well worth it in my book!!!

As a karate expert, Patrick never makes the first move, but if the other person does, he will protect himself. I just wanted the man to know, and yes that was the first one….I’ll write about the second one soon.
