It’s All Maya!

If Life is an illusion, then why do I keep banging my head against the wall?

Si la Vie est une illusion, pourquoi je n'arrête pas de me taper la tête sur les murs?

Si Tu Ne Crois Pas À L’Amour

Si Tu Ne Crois Pas À L’Amour……I love this romantic song by Charles Dumont!  No, it’s not on the top 40 hit parade list, nor is it the number one hit in France right now.  This song goes back to the 1970’s.  It’s one of those timeless songs that is as beautiful today as it was when it first came out.

Okay, so why am I going on about this song, you ask?  Well this weekend I was looking to download it onto my iTouch and although there are around 70 songs by Charles Dumont on iTunes, Si Tu Ne Crois Pas À L’Amour is not one of them!  So-o-o, I advanced my search to mp3 downloads on Amazon.fr and other sites, but still I couldn’t find it!

Maya Muses:  If anyone out there knows where I can download this beautiful song, please let me know!

SI TU NE CROIS PAS À L’AMOUR
P. Laforêt – C. Dumont

Aimer savoir aimer
Mourir, pouvoir mourir
Après avoir aimé
C’est peut-être trop demander
A ma vie qui passe aujourd’hui
Entre tes mains d’enfant gâtée
Entre tes mains d’enfant gâtée

Si, si tu ne crois pas à l’amour
Alors, a quoi bon te faire la cour

Sourire, savoir sourire
En attendant le jour
Où tu t’évaderas
C’est peut-être trop demander
A ma vie qui fond aujourd’hui
Entre tes mains de femme aimée
Entre tes mains de femme aimée

Si, si tu ne crois pas à l’amour
Alors, a quoi bon te faire la cour

Rêver, savoir rêver
Lorsque nous serons vieux
Et loin des souvenirs
C’est peut-être trop demander
A ma vie qui brûle aujourd’hui
Nos corps et nos mains enlacés
Nos corps et nos mains enlacés

Si, si tu ne crois pas à l’amour
Alors, a quoi bon te faire la cour
Si, si tu ne crois pas à l’amour
Si, si tu ne crois pas à l’amour
Alors, à quoi bon te faire la cour
Si tu ne crois pas à l’amour
Si tu ne crois pas à l’amour

I understand some of the words, but not enough to get the whole meaning. I would love to hear the song though.

I looked for it on Daily Motion and You Tube, but couldn’t find it. Even on his My Space, he has many of his songs, but not this one. I would have loved to put the song on my blog. I’ll keep searching….

Here is the song translated into english:

IF YOU DO NOT BELIEVE IN LOVE
    P. Laforet – C. Dumont

    Learn to love love
    To die, to die
    Having loved
That may be asking too much
    In my life go today
Into thy hands of a spoiled child
Into thy hands of a spoiled child

If, if you do not believe in love
    So, why do you court

    Smile, knowing smile
    Until the day
    Where you escape
That may be asking too much
    To my life back now
    Into thy hands beloved
    Into thy hands beloved

If, if you do not believe in love
    So, why do you court

    Dream, dream know
    When we are old
    And far from the memories
That may be asking too much
In my life that burns today
Our bodies and our hands clasped
Our bodies and our hands clasped

If, if you do not believe in love
    So, why do you court
If, if you do not believe in love
If, if you do not believe in love
    So, why do you court
If you do not believe in love
If you do not believe in love

Thanks for the English translation Sandra, but what I’m searching for is where I can purchase it to download the song onto my iTouch. This is how I would have adapted the song:

If You Don’t Believe In Love

To love, to know how to love
To die, to be able to die
    After having loved
Is perhaps too much to ask
Of my life that passes today
Between the hands of a spoiled child
Between the hands of a spoiled child

If….if you don’t believe in love
Then, what good is it to court you

To smile, to know how to smile
    While waiting for the day
    When you will leave
Is perhaps too much to ask
Of my life that unravels today
Between the hands of a woman loved
Between the hands of a woman loved

If….if you don’t believe in love
Then, what good is it to court you

To dream, to know how to dream
    When we are old
    And memories are far
Is perhaps too much to ask
Of my life that burns today
    Our bodies and hands entwined
    Our bodies and hands entwined

If….if you don’t believe in love
Then, what good is it to court you
If….if you don’t believe in love
If….if you don’t believe in love
Then, what good is it to court you
If….if you don’t believe in love
If….if you don’t believe in love
