If you haven’t heard about the young Belgian teen who decided she wanted 56 stars tattooed on her face, well you have now! Kimberley Vlaminck loved her stars until her father saw them and saw stars, he was so angry!
Afraid to tell her father the truth, she made up the story that she had asked the tattooist to give her three stars and fell asleep. When she awoke this tattoo artist (gone beserk) had given her 53 more stars than she had asked for! Unfortunately for her, her story did not add up….afterall, how many people would fall asleep while someone is drilling 56 stars into your face with a needle?!!!
The teenager finally admitted that she had asked for all 56 star and Romanian tattooist, Rouslan Toumaniantz, was redeemed. My question, however, is why would he consent to giving this young girl what she wanted? Has he no scruples? Was the 55£ for the job more important than the consequences that this act would have on this girl for the rest of her life? Shouldn’t he have told her to think about what she wanted and try to talk her out of it? It’s not like she was putting 56 stars on her behind where no one or very few people would see it! This was going on her face for all the world to see, unless she decides to wear a Burka!
Did the tattoo artist not think that what a teenager may find cool and hip; she’ll no longer feel that way as she gets older?! Running around with 56 stars covering half your face while you’re a teen is not so cool when you’re a 30, 40, 50, or 60 year old lady!
Maya Muses: After seeing photos of Toumaniantz, I can see why he didn’t think there was anything wrong with giving Vlaminck what she wanted! Next to him, her stars look pretty nice!

Ayoye!!!! I had a tattoo (a cat on my breast) once and a couple of years later, I learned that if I wanted to teach at private schools, I couldn`t unless it was removed…. so, i had it removed….
It cost about 10 times more to remove it than to have it done in the first place…. I don`t really miss my tattoo, I had it for 5 years…
I can`t imagine how her parents feel about her face tattooed… obviously, she never thought about the consequences of her actions…. sad.
and even if she has it removed one day… she will remain with some scars…

God I thought this was wierd when I first heard it. I liked the stars but it´s would look a lot better on an arm shoulder or leg at least you can cover them too.
From personal experience, If anyone wants a good tattoo then they need to do their homework. I went to a place last year where the guy did my second tattoo (An Ankh) on my wrist in a hurry and it wasn´t even straight. not to mention that it hurt like hell and it wasn´t completely coloured in.
my wolf tattoo which is a lot bigger took more time and only felt like i´d been pinched.
lesson learned.

Sometimes we do things as teens that later on in life we ask ourselves, “what were we thinking!” She’s already regretting it, but as Meredith said it’s not something she can just forget about, it’s going to leave scars.

They both made poor decisions. An ethical tattooist would not tattoo a customer’s face if the customer has never been tattooed before.

Meredith, I read somewhere that she had probably had the tattoos put on to hide her acne! I’m not sure if that’s true, but my first thought was, doesn’t she know that there are ways of getting rid of acne! As you and Deena said, now she’s going to be left with scars! It is sad!

Tina, good to see you back on the net! I agree, her stars would have looked nice on the back of one of her shoulders, for example….not on her face!

Deena, like you said, we’ve all done crazy things when we were young, but this was really nuts!

Carrie, I couldn’t agree more! He should not have done what she wanted, and her being so young. I think he was more concerned with making the sale, however, than what was ethical.
