This weekend Tim Miller and his Texas based EquuSearch team rounded up more than a thousand volunteers from different parts of the US to go out searching for the remains of little Caylee Anthony who was last seen with her mother back in June of this year.
Beth Holloway Twitty, the mother of Natalee Holloway was among those searching for the little girl. “A lot of people came to help me when I was searching for my daughter on the island of Aruba,” Beth said. Tim Miller the founder of EquuSearch was part of the rescue team looking for Natalee in Aruba, but her body was never found. Tim, however, was hopeful this weekend saying the weather was finally right to find the body of the missing Florida toddler. As winter draws near, the vegetation is down, plus the water levels are also down, and they have the equipment and the manpower to finally do an extensive search for Caylee’s remains.
Search teams focused on four distinct areas: the woods near George and Cindy Anthony’s home who are the grandparents of the missing child, an area near the Orlando International Airport, Moss Park, and Jay Blanchard Park. Each site was selected based on either eyewitness reports showing Casey Anthony in the vicinity the day that police believe she murdered her daughter, or the area where George Anthony was seen looking at the woods near his home after the disappearance of his granddaughter, or areas which are based on cell tower pings that came from Casey Anthony’s cell phone around the time of Caylee’s disappearance.
The search ended before nightfall and will resume again tomorrow morning. The volunteers hope to find little Caylee’s remains before Tuesday when they’ll decide whether to continue searching or not.
No one from the Anthony family was part of the search team looking for the little girl. Casey Anthony, the mother, sits in the Orange County Jail awaiting trial which is scheduled to begin on January 5, 2009. She is charged with first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse, aggravated manslaughter, and four counts of lying to investigators. She is being held without bond.
Maya Muses: Only the mother knows what really happened to her daughter, but hopefully the remains of little Caylee will be found this weekend even without the mother’s cooperation.
