A few years ago I won a contest online for having the best library out of all the contestants and I didn’t even need a rolling ladder at the time. Now I have the library I’ve always dreamed of having and with our 9 foot ceilings, I can definitely use a rolling ladder, but for some reason, I no longer want one. (The ladder - not the library!) Who would have thought it? I mean I’ve been dreaming of it ever since I was a kid and saw Audrey Hepburn standing on one in the Greenwich Village bookstore in Funny Face
Now the ladder just seems to distract from the beauty of the books, so I decided to keep the ladder behind closed doors in the computer room and use it only when I really need it. My library, needless to say, is my favorite room in our apartment. I love to sit in the big easy chair and read with the sun coming in through the windows. The only thing missing is a fireplace to add to the perfect ambiance and since it’s still cold in Paris, we’d be lighting a fire right now if we had one!
Maya Muses: Patrick wanted to put in a flat screen tv on one of the shelves, but I told him, “Unh uh, only books in our library! Now all I need is to go shopping for more because I’ve read almost every book that I have and lucky me - I still have room to add another shelf before reaching the ceiling!

Love Audrey Hepburn and your library. After seeing your photos, I have to gather my books from all over the house and try to make them as neat as yours.

I really like your library..book shelves are the secret..to sit in a library like that is wonderful..
I know..as I have had books around me all my life..and lots of book shelves..packed with books..
