Reflections on Haleigh Cummings’ Disappearance

March 20th, 2009 · 6 Comments

Update:  October 13, 2009

Ronald and Misty are in the process of getting a divorce; why am I not surprised???!!!   Misty’s lawyer has dropped her, therefore she has no legal representation.  Not surprised there either, her lawyer could not keep Misty’s mouth shut and with all the inconsistencies that come out of it, she can very well find herself behind bars by this time next year!  (Yes, the wheels of the justice system do grind slowly!)

My concern is still with Ronald.  He knows how to keep his mouth shut!  Yes he called Misty from work over 20 times.  Why?  Was he afraid that Misty blew their alibi?  Or(!)…. was it part of their alibi?  Which brings me back to what I wrote in March.  We still don’t know who was the last person to see Haleigh alive (not counting Ronald and Misty, of course) and, more importantly, when was she last seen alive???  Nancy Grace, whom I adore because she always asks the questions I would ask, has fallen short this time!  Blinded by believing in Ronald, she defends him that he was at work when Haleigh went missing, but if no one had seen Haleigh alive before he left for work, who’s to say that he didn’t have something to do with the child’s disappearance and the two of them concocted this tale???!!!  To me, it’s the only logical reason why Ronald and Misty got married in the first place!

What I wrote earlier on Reflections of Haleigh Cummings Disappearance still holds true today!

Remembering Haleigh CummingsIt’s been over a month since little 5 year-old Haleigh Cummings has been missing without a trace!  How can a child completely disappear without leaving any sign of what happened to her?  There is no such thing as a perfect crime.  So where is she?

Reading reports about the case, and watching interviews done by Haleigh’s father and his new wife, 17 year-old Misty Croslin Cummings is worrisome to say the least.  First of all, how can anyone justify getting married during the time that someone’s daughter is missing?  How can a father go buy a ring and ask his girl-friend of 7 or 8 months to marry him, and then a few weeks later  go ahead and get married!  All the while his 5 year-old daughter has supposedly been kidnapped from her bed in the middle of the night and has since vanished without a trace!

Misty and Ronald CummingsDoes this make sense to anyone?!  Both Ronald and Misty Cummings stated that little Haleigh would have wanted them to get married!  Really???!!!  Wouldn’t it have been more reasonable to wait until the child was found and then have a wedding, so little Haleigh could be a part of the celebration?  Why the rush?  I don’t buy their excuse that Haleigh would have wanted them to get married!  The child would have wanted to be a part of the wedding!

My question is, did they go ahead because they knew she wouldn’t be found alive?  Could it be that Ronald Cummings accidentally killed his daughter and he had to keep close tabs on Misty?  In other words, he couldn’t risk letting Misty slip away and having her blab to someone, so he had to marry her even if it looked bad in the public eye, but it was the only way for Ronald to keep some sort of control over her.

Misty Croslin CummingsMisty’s story about what happened to Haleigh has been inconsistent from the start.  First she said she was sleeping with Haleigh and then she wasn’t.  When Meredith Vieira asked her on the Today Show why she had said one thing and then another, the 17 year-old had a blank look on her face and couldn’t answer!

Ronald Cummings wasn’t any better.  When Nancy Grace asked him why Misty didn’t call 911 as soon as she realized that Haleigh was missing, instead of waiting until Ronald returned home from working the night shift, he couldn’t answer.  There too he was inconsistent.  At first he said that when he arrived home, Misty was standing at the door waiting for him.  About ten minutes later in the interview Nancy Grace asked again what was the reason for Misty not calling 911, he said because when he got home, she was in the house still looking for little Haleigh.

Little 5 year-old Haleigh Cummings.Hmm, there are not several versions to the truth, so why the inconsistencies?!  What I want to know, and yet no one seems to be asking,…. when was the last time anyone else saw little Haleigh alive besides Ronald and Misty Cummings?  Yes Ronald has a good alibi of being at work when Haleigh went missing, but if no one else saw Haleigh alive after he left for work, who’s to say she wasn’t already “missing” before he left? Could they possibly have anything to with her disappearance and concocted this story?!

Haleigh’s mother, Crystal Sheffield, has hired an attorney Kim Picazio to try and get custody of her son Junior, Haleigh’s younger brother.  Allegations against Ronald Cummings is for child abuse and the mother has produced photographs of both children with marks and bruises on their bodies from allegedly being beaten.

Maya Muses:  As much as I would like to believe that Ronald and Misty Cummings are innocent, their behavior and tales of the event are beginning to leave a lingering doubt.  I hope I’m wrong!

I read about this on your earlier posts and felt ill. I have heard of a number of stories similar to this, and invariably there seems to be a parent involved on some level. It is just heartbreaking.

It truly is. When you think about it though, for someone to be bold enough to go into the home and take the little girl while others were inside sleeping, and not leave a trace…..something just doesn’t add up!

If the little boy saw a man in black, he would have either woke up Misty or she would have woke up on her own to see the same man. Why isn’t she being questioned about that?

Gloria, I think there are way too many things that don’t add up! I’m surprised by so many people on television taking what Ronald and Misty say as the truth! Even Nancy Grace who usually gets it right, doesn’t seem to question Ronald at all. She only has doubts about Misty, but as I’ve said….who’s to say that Haleigh didn’t disappear before he went to work, rather than afterwards?!!! That would explain why he was in such a rush to marry Misty. (There doesn’t seem to be any other reasonable explanation for them to get married while little Haleigh is still missing.)

The theory that I have is that Misty left to get drugs or have an affair, I beleive she is involved in some way, and why would any mother let their 17 daughter marry a 25 year old? ALso no one ever mentioned whether they did dusting for finger prints on the light switch that was left on when she awoke to find Haleight missing. Hmmmmm! Just seems strange.

Hmm, now that you’re talking about the light switch, Marilyn, it has me thinking…..how could Haleigh’s little brother, Junior, see this “man in black” if the light was only on near the back door? There’s a lot of things that just don’t add up in this situation.

I agree with you, I think it’s obvious that Misty knows a lot more than she’s telling, but Ronald sticking by her makes me think that he must know a lot more as well!
