If history has told us anything, it’s that all politicians will say anything to get elected! Promises are made and once elected, those promises go out the window! Who doesn’t remember, “Read my lips: no new taxes.” and the controversy when George H. W. Bush eventually did raise taxes. Is McCain, Clinton, or Obama any different? Of course not! Everything they have said on the campaign trail should be taken with a grain of salt. Will anything really change with the election of a new president? No, not really.
The further along this presidential race has gone, the less I like all three! Is it because we’ve been saturated by this election for so long? Is it all the verbal bashing between candidates? Or is it that Americans are finally tired of this two party system? Besides, how ridiculous is this system when we as voters really have no say in choosing who becomes the next president! Delegates and superdelegates run the show! Do we really know what happens behind close doors? Do we know if a superdelegate or two is promised something to make him or her change their vote?
Politicians know all too well about illusions and making people believe what they want people to believe; until they’re elected that is, and then you see them for who they truly are!
Maya Muses: Very seldom in history does a politician come along and make changes to better the lives of his constituents or mankind. I’m afraid McCain, Clinton, and Obama, unfortunately, are not that kind of politician.
