Most Embarrassing Moments

September 10th, 2008 · 32 Comments

Most Embarrassing Moment!Patrick and I were talking with a friend about our most embarrassing moments.  No, I’m not going to tell you what mine was, but it did remind me of a party my aunt and uncle had a few years ago.  There were about 50 people at their house, some were in the living room, others in the kitchen or the dining room.

Anyway, about ten of us were sitting in the kitchen talking about our most embarrassing moment.  Gilles, a French-Canadian married to one of my aunt’s best friends, was telling everyone in English about his. I don’t even remember what his story was about, but I have to mention here that Gilles has a very heavy Québecois accent when he speaks English so you need to keep that in mind.

Most Embarrassing MomentAt the end of his story, we were all laughing and Gilles said, “I fel-lt em-bar–ass, I fel-lt em-bar–ass.”

Gloria, Gilles’ wife, happened to be passing from one of the other rooms at that moment and came storming into the kitchen and said, “Who in the hell is Amber?!!!”

Needless to say everyone bust out laughing!  We couldn’t even explain to her for a good five minutes that Gilles was innocent, tears were rolling down our faces!  It was hysterical!

Maya Muses:  Hmm,…..or maybe you had to be there?!  LOL!!!

    Get the picture!

    Hmmm….An Embarrasing moment….

When I offered Relaxing massage to a “famous” singer and he answered: “So,you do relaxing massage do you?”
I was dead serious..He was not!
He couldn’t resist making fun of me!
I guess every man would think of a certain kind of massage….but did I get that?Nope!
But when I did, it was too late to say anything…
I wanted to just disappear…I felt really stupid!

Why is it that you always know what to say, when it is too late?

That reminds me of a time when I hadn’t been to the States for almost ten years; I was living in Paris with my French boy-friend and all my friends were French so I only spoke French all the time. I thought in French, I dreamed in French, ….and it was difficult to communicate in English when I would speak to my family once or twice a year.

So, I went to the States for a visit. One day I was walking around this street fair with my brother and his girl-friend and my mother walking a little behind me. When I was passing two guys that were sitting there, one of them said to me, “You look really hot today.”

I looked at him and said, “Yes, I am hot today, but the weatherman said that tomorrow it’ll be cooler.” The look on their faces! (When I think of it, it still makes me laugh!) They looked at me and then at each other, like….did she really say that?! They then started laughing.

My brother and his girl-friend were laughing behind me and I turned around and said, “What? It is hot today!”

My brother said, “No dummy, they meant you look really good.” Embarrassing….LOL!!!

Ah….the stories Patrick and I can tell you about mixing up languages, the idioms, and the argot, especially when you speak 3 languages.

  • 3 Mia // Sep 13, 2008 at 9:49 pm

    I can imagine!

Like Carlos when he said; ssssuck sex….he meant success!

And how many times have I not written” meat” instead of” meet”….

    OK…Bed time!

  • 4 Patrick // Sep 14, 2008 at 2:41 pm

Yes Cherie, how many times did we mix up languages? Most of the time it’s hilarious but like you said Mia, it can be extremely embarrassing.
I am not going to tell you my most embarrassing moment, but I want to give my advice to anybody who wants to give a karate demonstration (called Kata ).
    DO NO EAT BEANS BEFORE!!!!!

  • 5 Lynn // Sep 14, 2008 at 5:34 pm

Patrick, you should have told the story….it’s so funny!

  • 6 Mia // Sep 14, 2008 at 6:11 pm

    Yes,please do!
Now you only leave me hanging here with a lot of ?????????

I can tell you some more too that are really embarrassing!

  • 7 Lynn // Sep 15, 2008 at 5:59 pm

Hahaha! Me too! Okay, you tell me another one and I’ll tell you my most embarrassing! (I’ll persuade Patrick to tell his too!)

  • 8 Mia // Sep 17, 2008 at 12:52 pm

Hmmm,I really have been thinking about this…
And how embarrassing, but I seem to have forgotten them????

But here is one that my mom told me…
A female friend of her told her this:
She and the neighbour’s next door shared the morning paper…
The one who got up first had to go out in the hall way to get it!
One morning she woke early and open the door to get the paper,at the same time the husband of the couple who lived next door came out to get the paper too…in the nude!
They looked at each other… perplexed…What to do? What to say?
Well,he grabbed the paper and went inside really fast! Not saying a word!
My moms friend could hear his wife shout at him:”You could at least put your under wear on,for heaven sake!”
My moms friend thought it was hilarious! She had a good laugh that morning!

  • 9 Lynn // Sep 17, 2008 at 4:50 pm

That is funny! My most embarrassing moment was when I lived in Spain. A friend and I were spending the summer on the Costa Brava and everyday I would run around a track that you had to climb a bunch of steps to get to.

So, one day as I approached, a bunch of guys were sitting on the bottom steps. Rather than just say, “hola” and walk up the stairs, I decided to do my stretching at the bottom like I always did. The guys were talking to each other and saying things, but I ignored them like I was some great serious athlete. (Which I wasn’t!!!)

After a few minutes of bending and leg stretching I felt ready to not just walk up those stairs, I decided since I have an audience, I might as well run up them! I did really well up until the last step which I tripped over and fell flat on my face! So much for the great athlete that I wasn’t!!! LOL!!! And talk about a red face…that was me!!!

  • 10 Lynn // Sep 17, 2008 at 4:53 pm

My mom would say, “That’s what you get for showing off!” (I said it for you mom!!!)

  • 11 Mia // Sep 17, 2008 at 8:26 pm

Think I would have said the same!Lol!

    This one is good!
Ulf’s brother visited us,years ago this was..
he had a shower;we had a bath tub with a hand shower and around the bath tub a drapery…
Suddenly I heard a noise from the bathroom! It sounded like everything fell down and Ulf’s brother fell out of the bath tub or something!?

    Then I heard him laughing!
He had slipped on the soap, grabbed the drapery, the whole drapery fell down and he with it…and landed on the floor!
He could have broken something, but thank God he didn’t….He couldn’t stop laughing!
    I did too…

  • 12 Lynn // Sep 19, 2008 at 4:50 am

It sounds like a skit in a film! LOL!!! A good thing he didn’t get hurt! How many people get killed or seriously injured because of slipping on a bar of soap while in the bath tub!

(By the way, Patrick said he would tell his most embarrassing moment today!)

  • 13 Mia // Sep 19, 2008 at 6:56 pm

    Okay….
I have some more…tell them later….after he told his!

  • 14 Patrick // Sep 20, 2008 at 2:55 am

Okay Mia, this is for you!

There was an open house taking place at the Dojo (karate studio) for new students and their parents that were going to begin lessons at the school. My Sensei (black belt instructor) asked me if I could participate by doing a demonstration.

Kata Demonstration! The auditorium was packed and I was going through my Kata which was going very well. The audience was really quiet and were getting into my demonstration when my next movement was to do a squat. As I spread my legs and went down, I passed wind (That’s a nice way for saying I farted!!!) it was so loud that there was complete silence for a few seconds.

My Sensei took a few steps backward and waved his hand in my direction and said to the stunned audience, “Secret weapon!” At that moment, everybody started howling in laughter. Everyone but me! I just wanted to go hide, I was so embarrassed!

  • 15 Lynn // Sep 20, 2008 at 6:28 am

Hey Patrick, how do you like the photo of the little girl I found doing her Kata just like you?! Lol.

  • 16 Mia // Sep 20, 2008 at 3:05 pm

    Thanks for the laughter!Lol!

Secret weapon indeed!Stun them with farting then hit!
What did you do? Just continued?

Too tired right now so write more later!
    Lol…

  • 17 Patrick // Sep 20, 2008 at 9:11 pm

I like the picture of the little girl! She’s doing a perfect squat, that’s exactly how I was except for my arms, one was higher the other lower. I’m sure she doesn’t have her black belt yet, but she’s on her way! Or else she’ll make a great umpire! “S-a-f-e!” LOL

  • 18 Patrick // Sep 20, 2008 at 9:14 pm

Mia, I had no choice. I continued my routine until the end and then I left the gym! LOL No, I’m kidding, I stayed for the other demonstrations, but I was extremely embarrassed.

  • 19 Lynn // Sep 20, 2008 at 10:05 pm

Hey! She does look like an umpire! Even her mouth looks like she could be saying, “S-a-f-e!”

  • 20 Mia // Sep 21, 2008 at 6:07 pm

Had to look up what umpire meant…
But it was not hard to figure out anyway….She does look like one!

One thing I thought about being embarrassed…
When you start to not take yourself so seriously, you don’t get embarrassed that easily…
I don’t care that much anymore….I guess it has something to do with age,or something…
    What do you think?
When I was younger I was so self conscious, became embarrassed easily….now I can laugh at my self…

And Patrick…Didn’t you wish that you could have said what your Sensei said….I would have…

  • 21 Lynn // Sep 21, 2008 at 8:44 pm

So true! I think when we’re younger we worry way too much what other people think of us! As we get older, we realize that it’s not that important what they think of us. (As, the expression goes: “Take it or leave it!”) It’s more important what we feel about ourselves.

If we feel good about ourselves, it goes without saying that most people will feel good about us as well….and then we get back to the belief that our energy attracts back to us what we send out.

  • 22 Mia // Sep 22, 2008 at 5:40 pm

    Yeah….
I really believe that this is true….

When I was is Madrid I met these fantastic people, every where…..

I like to give hugs and get hugs…so I do hug a lot…
When I meet someone I like I have to express this, and words are not enough….
I hugged many during the days in Madrid…

    I do it here too….It is fun…

    Energies are another interesting topic….

  • 23 Lynn // Sep 23, 2008 at 4:12 pm

I just left a comment where we are talking about past lives, and now talking about energies. It’s amazing how many things we have in common that interest us!

  • 24 Patrick // Sep 23, 2008 at 11:55 pm

Mia, I did wish I would have thought quickly enough to say that, but I froze and so did my mind! LOL

  • 25 Mia // Sep 24, 2008 at 11:09 am

    Yeah,amazing indeed….

And Patrick….Is that not often the case,we know exactly what we “should” have said when it is too late!God,how many good replies I have when the situation have passed….
Sometimes I wish you could freeze time,to come up with a good reply or reaction, and then start the “projector” again..Lol
But then again we would not have these “funny”
situations to laugh about would we?

Will go out,the sun is shining…

  • 26 Patrick // Oct 2, 2008 at 3:24 am

That would be great if we could freeze time, because I always think of clever things to say, but about 15 minutes too late! LOL.

That day all my power of concentration dissipated into thin air! LOL.

  • 27 Mia // Oct 3, 2008 at 12:15 pm

    It certainly did!LOL….

  • 28 Lynn // Oct 3, 2008 at 8:13 pm

LOL!!! Okay enough from both of you! I would love to hear other people tell me some of their most embarrassing moments!

  • 29 Mia // Oct 4, 2008 at 1:45 pm

Well,Lynn…I could tell you one of mine, but I have to email you that one!
    Because it is too embarrassing!

  • 30 Lynn // Oct 4, 2008 at 10:59 pm

Wow! It must be if you don’t want to write it here!

  • 31 Mia // Oct 5, 2008 at 11:26 am

    It is!
    A very female thing…
    In a chair,in a position you as a women feel/are very exposed….
Gosh,I blush even when thinking about it!
And I it is not about “farting”…..

  • 32 Lynn // Oct 5, 2008 at 11:51 pm

Okay! I get the picture!!! Lol.
