It’s All Maya!

If Life is an illusion, then why do I keep banging my head against the wall?

Si la Vie est une illusion, pourquoi je n'arrête pas de me taper la tête sur les murs?

Grande Cause Nationale - Don de Vie, Don de Soi

Last year’s march in Paris.

If you happen to be in any of a number of large cities in France on Sunday (Paris, Bordeaux, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, and Toulouse to name a few) and you’re wondering what everyone is doing marching in the streets - join them!  Believe me, it’s for a good cause!  My friend Stéphanie lost her beautiful daughter, Laurette, to Leukemia and ever since then she has taken up the cause to fight against this illness.

Laurette FugainLaurette was a beautiful 21 year-old with a wonderful career ahead of her in acting; she would have followed in the footsteps of her mother and older sister, Marie.  Instead she became ill with Leukemia and lost her battle seven years ago.

La Marche contre la Leucémie!Since that time Stéphanie has taken it upon herself through l’Association Laurette Fugain to bring awareness of how important it is to donate blood, platelets, plasma, bone marrow and organs.  The association also raises money for medical research and help to those patients who become ill and to their families.  Many stars and celebrities show up for this march of solidarity to give support to Stéphanie in memory of her daughter.

Maya Muses:  A great cause that should become an international day of giving of yourself, to give life!

I have forwarded your post to some of my friends in France. This is certainly a worthy cause. We oftentimes take our good health for granted…….

I agree, without our health what do we have? I love the music and the singer’s voice even though I don’t understand what she’s singing about, it’s beautiful all the same.

Thanks Harriet, it’s so true - we take our health for granted until the day we become ill and as Stéphanie says, it’s so easy to donate blood, etc. to help save a life.

Deena, that’s exactly what my mom and dad always said, “Without your health what do you have? Nothing!”…..and I agree!

Actually Nolwenn Leroy won Star Academy (the French version of American Idol in 2002.) Patrick and I watched her perform every week back then like we’re watching and hoping for Adam Lambert to win this year on AI, but that’s another story!!!

We’re up in Boone/Blowing Rock, NC for a week. I just checked one of my fave Paris photo blogs. You need to check it out; he has a link to your site which I told him about!
