Four times in US history was the presidency won by the electoral vote, but not by the popular vote. One of those times just happens to be when George W. Bush was elected president in 2000. Need I say more!!! This just goes to show that having an electoral college pick the president as opposed to what the people want is a lamebrain way of choosing a president.
Besides, why should the presidency be in the hands of a few select people? Yes these electors are suppose to vote according to the popular vote in their state caucuses and primaries, but the reality of the matter is they are free to vote for the candidate of their choice. Super delegates is an even more absurd idea! Select party leaders are given the power to vote for whomever they want regardless of what their constituents have voiced.
This method is a dangerous way of picking a man or woman who will lead our country for four years! Who’s to say what candidates running for office may promise to a super delegate just to get their vote; or what a super delegate may demand from a candidate in order to get his or her vote!?
Everyone has issues, and just like lobbyists these super delegates have their own agendas and interests that they want to push ahead. What better way of doing that then using their voting power to advance their public or private goals?
This years race for the White House is a fine example of why this way of selecting a nominee for the presidency isn’t working. Clinton has the popular vote. Obama has the electoral vote. Who will come out ahead and receive the nomination? The way it stands, Obama will. Does that mean Clinton voters will go for McCain as many have voiced they will? We shall see.
Maya Muses: Four more years of Bush politics…..if that’s the case, I think I’ll go to Mayaland (land of illusions) and wait until 2012! Or can the world take four more years of Bush politics? Afterall, the Mayan calendar ends in 2012! What does that mean for all of us?!

True! Politics and politicians are all the same! They tell you what you want to hear to get elected and then they do whatever they want! It’s the same for all of them! Look at Sarkozy in France and whoever wins in the States, it’ll be the same!
Tina, I’m not that up to date with what is going on in the Italian government. I was when I lived in Rome for awhile, but that was years ago!
