When Carly Smithson sang The Show Must Go On on American Idol, I was rooting for her to do a good job. Unfortunately, the song was too big for her and it was not one of her better performances. I’m not comparing Carly to my friend Geraldine Larrosa even though the comparison can be made if all the rumours are true that Carly wasn’t really an amateur when she was competing, but instead had a number of recordings that didn’t do well and has been a professional singer for sometime.
This post however is about Geraldine Larrosa who I’m so proud of and has an amazing voice! Her take on Queen’s hit song, The Show Must Go On is fantastic! Who would have thought that when she was a kid playing outside my apartment window in the Cour Saint-Pierre that one day she would be performing on stage and screen and giving rock concerts?! Well, frankly I did!
Why not! Afterall, her father was a world famous magician from Argentina, and considered one of the best; and her mother had been a “petit rat” as a child in the Opéra de Marseille and later became a professional dancer. I’ve watched Geraldine grow through the years, and even after she left Paris and went to Madrid in search of stardom, her family and I have remained close. She’s performed on stage in hit musicals, in films, on television, and now in concert! Most recently her presentation of Innocence: The Show Must Go On has received rave reviews! As I’ve said, she’s terrific and I’m really proud of her!
Maya Muses: The video on YouTube takes you into a musical land of illusion. Yet, how many realize that each one of us is on stage playing a role; reading the script that we were assigned? At times, that role that we were given may be hard, but we continue because we know - the show must go on.

Wowwwwwwwwww!! I couldn´t agree with you more! I think she´s fantastic and I was at this Video clip and the first thing I said to my friend was “God she´s so tiny…. where is this big amazing voice coming from?”
I mentioned in the last blog I was at both her concerts with 2 of my best friends, 1 of them I met for the first time that weekend.
We are going to experience the magic of Innocence and her concerts all over again this Sept too with some more of our best friends!!
The DVD is fantastic… (especially love the part in the extras of the explaintion of a dance routine, that is priceless)

I was hoping to go to Madrid to see her and her mom for a week in June, but I’ll be too busy showing my little niece Paris! Maybe I’ll try to make it in September as well. That would be fun!

Carlos is amazing as a person as well as an artist.
But when the 2 of them are singing together it´s like OMG I want to live forever!!
Yeah Like Mia said you have to bring a fan. It is the most intense show you will ever experience!

ok let me elaborate here.. September in Madrid is still hot. the theatre we were in last year was also Very hot and well, the rest is how intense the show is.

Aha! No problem finding a fan in Madrid, they’re all over the place! I’ll buy one of those fancy lace ones with a flamenco dancer or a bullfighter on it (haha) and then give it to someone as a souvenir!
