Okay, I’ll put my two cents worth into all the fuss about Cheryl Burke putting on weight. As Patrick and I were settling in to watch the new season of Dancing With The Stars, the first thing I said to Patrick was, “Oh my gosh! Look how much heavier Cheryl Burke is this season!”
Patrick looked at her and said, “She looks pretty good to me!”
“But she’s so much fatter!” I exclaimed, as I started cleaning my eye-glasses. “Look, even her face is fuller!”
Patrick once again focused on Cheryl and said, “I don’t know about her face, but the rest of her looks pretty darn good if you ask me!”
“Come on!” I continued. “You know she had one of the best bodies last year. Look at her legs….”
Patrick sighed. I could tell he was contemplating whether to agree with me so he could watch the show in peace, or say what he really thought. “I see her legs,” he said, sticking to his guns, ”and I really like them, I like all of her….”
“Okay, never mind…it’s like talking to a broken record.” I countered.
The thing is, after all the negative comments about Cheryl putting on weight, she won’t even come out and say just how much weight she’s really gained. In an interview she stated that she put on 5 pounds, but 5 pounds are not that noticable. For people to be as shocked as they were, Cheryl had to have put on anywhere from 10 to 15 pounds or more.
But why all the fuss, which comes mostly from women? As I later told Patrick, “You’re right, most women would kill to have her body, as it was last season, or like it is now.” Afterall, when you go from a size 0, or 2, to a size 4, we’re not talking about a plus size woman here!
Maya Muses: I’d rather see a healthy curvier Cheryl on the dance floor than a fragile unhealthy looking Susan Lucci anyday. As for Patrick, needless to say, he agrees!

Yeah…
Where does it come from.. all this fuss about weight and looking this or that way?
Who started it?And when?And why?

I think it comes more from women than it does from men. Women are more critical about how a woman looks, than men are! I must admit I was guilty by my reaction when I first saw Cheryl.
I suppose it’s worse for women in the public eye where they feel they have to maintain a certain image.

I think this is the way for men too now a days!
But in that world of illusions it may be worse that in the “ordinary” world?

A good example is Hollywood which is definitely a world of illusions!

Oooh let’s not get started with the weight thing… Since moving into my new place 3 months ago my weight hasn’t been top priority.
Cheryl looks good anyway.. why would someone wanna be a size zero when it’s so much nicer to have some curves… if you’re naturally a size zero then that’s different….
Ha ha Susan Lucci replace the L with B and you’ve got my surname…..

Yeah, and most men, whether they want to admit it or not, prefer a woman with curves!
